What is an Intermediate Swing Bed?
Intermediate Swing Bed
Hodgeman County Health Center offers Inpatient Intermediate Swing Bed Care when your loved one is unable to care for themselves and may need assistance with daily living activities. This care can be provided following a hospitalization or illness, and helps care for the patient during the transition toward long-term care. Intermediate Swing Beds are considered hospital inpatient beds that are not covered by Medicare, but can be covered privately, through some Long Term Care Insurances and the Medicaid program. If you have further questions, please reach out to us at 620-357-8361 for more details.

Meals are served tableside, allowing residents to select beverages, entrees, and sides.
Residents and staff enjoy volunteers who play live music and lead routine church services, as well as a variety of other activities planned throughout the month. Our residents also enjoy watching birds in the aviary, playing with the cat, Betty, playing bingo and other games, gardening, and movies. A tablet handled by our social services leader is taken room to room for patients to have a zoom meeting with their loved ones.
Residents are encouraged to participate in the unit’s restorative program that is overseen by the nursing department. Residents can work toward maintaining or increasing muscle tone.
We are Medicare certified and are surveyed by the Kansas Department of Health & Environment.
